Hampshire Youth Connect

The Farm Education Collaborative (TFEC) is working with the Hampshire College Childhood, Youth, and Learning program and other local partners to provide meaningful programming on campus for under served youth.  Hampshire Youth Connect also aims to excite young people about learning in College, familiarize them with the college admissions process, and provide Hampshire College students with community based internship opportunities.

Hampshire Youth Connect/ TFEC Programs:

For the past two summers, TFEC staff have led an innovative youth leadership counselor-in-training program for teens from The Treehouse Foundation of Easthampton at their Farm & Garden Camp at Hampshire College.  In addition to leadership skills development, the program provides job training and summer employment for involved youth.  Teens also spend some of their time during the program developing technology design and group facilitation skills by working with the Hampshire College Lemelson Center for Design and Enchanted Circle Theatre.

In 2011, TFEC educators led two intensive, agricultural science mini courses for women from The Care Center of Holyoke.

In Spring of 2013, TFEC educators, Hampshire College student interns and farm staff will be co-developing and leading field trips at the Hampshire College Farm/CSA for school groups from Holyoke and Springfield.
